Seabirds and Shiant Isles.
Harking back to 2018.... During a period where I was experimenting with materials ,thinking about remote islands, the sea, the sounds and the possibility of visiting the Shiant Isles ; a small group of remote islands in the Minch, a strait in north-west Scotland that separates the mainland from Lewis and Harris in the Outer Hebrides. The resulting painting entitled ' Knee Deep in the North Sea' (2018), also a song title by Portico Quartet featured in a group show at the Mis

Diverse Pleasures.
Curated by Ben Risk for the Arb Building, University of Cambridge. Diverse Pleasures brings together a group of artists who currently live and work in the UK. The group have been drawn to each other through years of friendship and discussion, and the work in this exhibition is reflective of their shared interests. Works in the exhibition were chosen for their individual qualities rather than their usefulness to curatorial thesis, but a notion of genre emerges as central. They

Bark Paintings
A few years ago, my daughter and I spent time foraging.... only to discover the hidden merits of bark... The surface is beautiful... and meant I could quickly paint some of the things that run through my mind. It felt like communing with Frank Walter . I didn't expect that anything would come of them, but thanks to the great folks at Art and People they found a beautiful new home here in Devon. Thanks Flo and Claudia! Bark paintings 2023

Mattiscombe: Beaks, Bills and Belonging
For the past four years I've been spending time at a particularly beautiful stretch of coast in South Devon called Mattiscombe. It's become a site of special interest for me and many others due to the abundance of flora, fauna and wildlife. On a good day, you'll catch sightings of Stonechats, Cirl Buntings, Seals, Peregrine Falcons, Osyter Catchers, and Kestrals. The Stonechat, with it's striking black head, white collar and reddish body perches atop gorse thickets making th
